Birst goes against the grain with non-cloud reliant software
Leading software as a service (SaaS) provider Birst Inc has introduced new business intelligence software with an unprecedented level of options when it comes to deployment and application.
In a move which may be of interest to search engine optimisation providers, Birst 5 is the first software application that can deliver enterprise-class capabilities to users while also being able to be deployed in the cloud, on site or as a self-contained appliance.
All three options of deployment are said to work well for users with Birst Cloud allowing users to host the entire business intelligence solution with guaranteed performance, reliability and security.
Deploying the software locally can offer users a hybrid deployment capability which allows the keeping of data on site, while hosting analytics in the cloud.
Should users opt to host the software as one appliance, they can enjoy the entire software suite as one virtual machine for deployment on premise. It employs a 'shared-nothing architecture' while also defeating challenges of on-premise software solutions. This will enable scalability and upgrades to take place quicker and easier.
Brad Peters, CEO and co-founder of Birst Inc said: "Birst is redefining how we think of SaaS today. It is becoming less about the delivery method and more about the application itself and the rapid benefits it can bring.
The software builds on the previous Birst 4 platform with features and enhancements to help make it the most complete and scalable SaaS solution on the market. It features the ability for dashboard users and report developers to schedule reports for email delivery and also allows power users to save, reuse, and share sophisticated calculations and spreadsheets.
Peters added: "As a Birst partner, the unique SaaS or appliance consumption model is giving our customers the freedom to determine how they want to use Birst and in whatever environment they are most comfortable."
