Living Streams upgrades its support for CSSI by Tony Thornby 01/01/2009 Work on the CSSI website has always been carried out by Living Streams on a FOC basis. But now, all costs are being covered as well

The CSSI website was the first website that Living Streams produced when it started trading in February 2006.   The charity, which is registered in Kerala, India  provides assistance for the Dahlit people in parts of West Bengal and Kerala.

Its work includes:
- building wells to provide fresh water close to villages
- medical centres
- support for schools
- ladies self-help groups
- skill training (sewing and crafts)
- improved housing

The charity was started by a local man in India and is now operationally run in India by his son Shaji Amos.

For a considerable number of years most of the fund raising for the charity has been carried out in the UK led by a retired paster (Michael Heard) and his wife (Joan Heard).  Living Streams became involved with it through the longterm friendship between Joann Thornby and this couple - a friendship now shared by Tony Thornby.

Although Living Streams does some voluntary work locally and supports some good local causes, it's main heart is very much with the poor of the world and the world itself (global warming, conservation etc).

Joann had previously sponsored a well and contributed towards a vehicle use fo health services. We are delighted to now take over sposorship of all costs associated with the CSSI UK website.
