Annual SEM Awards choose its new winners of industry 17/02/2011 A leading online marketing publication in the US has named the winners of its fifth awards ceremony, with strong competition hotting things up this year.

A leading website promotion and internet marketing magazine has announced the winners of its Annual Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Awards for the fifth consecutive year.

PromotionWorld.com gave a number of hat-tips to search engine optimisation providers companies who made a mark in the previous year. The Annual SEM Awards are a global recognition of market leaders and has been established to reward "outstanding contributions within the internet marketing industry".

Five categories reflected the constantly-changing technologies and growing demand for new services online for managed emarketing and for the third year in a row, PromotionWorld's readers also had the chance to vote for their favourites by naming the winner for the Readers' Choice Award. Over 4,500 visitors took part in the nominations.

As per the company's judgement, the best SEO company was adjudged to be Neboweb, while Customer Magnetism picked up the gong for best pay-per-click management company. The top social media management company was Converseon, local search company winner was 15miles and finally, the coveted readers' choice award was given to 1st On The List Promotion.

PromotionWorld.com explained that this year's winners stood out among "an increasing number of high-quality companies" and proved to be the leaders in their individual classes, all the while offering cutting-edge services in the world's most innovative marketing trades that enable businesses to connect with audiences and clients through new media.

Darren Tabor, chief executive officer of DevStart, said "Search engine marketing is being forced to adapt to changes faster and faster each year. It was our great pleasure to recognise the companies that have not only stayed ahead of the curve, but have also led the rest of the industry through innovation."

Yesterday, search engine optimisation providers were given a boost as Google unveiled an experimental extension for its Chrome browser to deal with spam in search results from content farms.
