The vast majority of people on the micro-blogging website Twitter are using the services for business purposes.
This is according to a new study from The Kamaron Research Institute, which revealed that over eight in ten members of the social networking website are publishing business-related tweets, something that may interest internet consultants.
Almost 300 users were questioned for the Kamaron Institute Twitter Users Psychographic Study "Why Do You Tweet" survey and just 17 per cent did not list business as one of their reasons for tweeting.
Founder of The Kamaron Research Institute Margaret Ross stated: "It's very timely as Twitter announces its intent to launch premium paid services this fall and companies strive to monetise their social media time investment."
Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, recently said that a range of professional services will be rolled out in the coming months, including a package enabling firms to conduct analytics research to gauge how they are performing on the site.
Ms Ross added that those who are using the services in order to promote their company or service are likely to be "more receptive" to such paid-for services if they will boost the firm's return on investment.
