Twitter announces retweet function 15/08/2009 Andy Carter wrote: Will your usage of Twitter change as a result?
Twitter is to implement an option allowing users to retweet information more easily, it has been announced.

The micro-blogging service will introduce the option in a bid to encourage users to share information more often, something that may be of interest to an internet marketing consultant.

It is currently demonstrating how the change will work to the developer community and aims to launch the facility in a few weeks time, according to a post on its official blog.

"The first launch of this feature will probably be [to] a limited subset of folks for a short period of time," it stated, adding that a full rollout will follow once any issues have been resolved.

It added that the "open exchange of information can have a positive global impact", with the blog author stating: "the more efficient dissemination of information across the entire Twitter ecosystem is something we very much want to support."

Last month, Twitter launched a guide demonstrating how the website can be used effectively for marketing purposes.

Included were a number of case studies showing how firms such as Dell and Pepsi have integrated Twitter into their marketing campaigns.
