Live Search API launched on trial to businesses 14/11/2008 Microsoft is launching a new API for publishers and web developers aimed at providing a content management system for business websites.
Microsoft has announced the new release of its Live Search application programming interface (API) for publishers and web developers that will provide a content management system.

The system, which is still in its early days, is being offered to business websites and Microsoft plans to work on whatever feedback it receives.

Writing on the official Live Search blog, senior director Angus Norton said: "Although it's in its early days, we're quite bullish about the offering - especially its ability to be customised to suit publisher needs and its flexible and extensive set of friendly data formats."

The purpose of the programme Project Silk Road is to help generate traffic, boost productivity and agility, increase site engagement and drive insight.

Live Search API is customised in that it serves search results in the rank and format the business chooses itself.

Experts have announced that it will also include a 404 error toolkit that works to keep users on a website even when they enter a search that returns no results.

The launch of Live Search coincides with Microsoft's updated version of Windows Live which aims to make email, photo sharing and instant messaging easier for users.
