Google brings new feature to Firefox toolbar 08/10/2009 Mark Richard wrote: The search engine giant has updated its plugin for the browser

Google has introduced a new version of its toolbar for Firefox that includes its new advanced in-page translation feature. The service enables web users to convert a page from one language to another quickly and easily and has already debuted on Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer.

In addition, the internet giant has added new "high-quality" website suggestions and sponsored links, which appear when a user begins to type something in the search box - something that may interest internet marketing consultants that are carrying out search engine optimisation.

As well as this, the privacy features found in the toolbar have been upgraded in response to the new private browsing mode that was introduced in version 3.5 of Firefox. When private browsing is activated, the toolbar will now switch off the PageRank, Web History and Sidewiki features, but Google has warned that activating this feature "does not mean complete anonymity".

It introduced the Sidewiki feature - which allows web users to leave comments on the quality of a site that can be viewed by other visitors - at the end of last month. Google said that the service will help make it easier for people to find specific information on the web.
