Bing continued to increase it share of the US search market in July, new figures have revealed.
According to the latest figures from web analytics firm StatCounter, the Microsoft-run search engine took its share to 9.41 per cent last month, up from 8.23 per cent in June.
Google still holds the majority of the sector with 77.54 per cent in July, the data showed, with Microsoft and Yahoo combined taking 20.36 per cent.
On a global scale, Google held 89.23 per cent of the market, with Microsoft and Yahoo occupying 8.77 per cent.
Chief executive officer and founder of StatCounter Aodhan Cullen explained that Bing is making "slow but steady progress" in the sector.
However, he added that the low combined Yahoo figures means that the two companies "will have to demonstrate major future synergies" if they are to "make a dent" in Google's dominance of the market.
Microsoft and Yahoo announced an agreement last week that will see them join forces in an effort to attract a greater proportion of search users.
The ten-year deal involves Bing being incorporated into Yahoo's portal, which in turn will coordinate marketing and sales operations.
