Search engine Google has announced it is launching a new homepage for its Blog Search tool as part of its ongoing website maintenance.
The new landing page will employ similar technology to that used by its Google News tool, with categories down the left hand side and groups of related post underneath them, reports the company on its official blog.
Google says that by grouping posts into similar clusters, readers will be able to get a balanced viewpoint on a topic from a variety of perspectives.
The redesign will also feature a timeline graph with each story, so users will be able to follow the developments of a particular story and how it is being written about in the blogosphere.
Google already provides a blog and news aggregrator in its Reader service, but the redesigned Blog Search application will provide information on niche topics that may be overlooked by the mainstream media.
The news comes only days after the search engine revealed it was adding an analytics option to YouTube which would help users follow the progress of their videos.
