Truveo claims it is the best video search engine 24/09/2008 Video search engine Truveo's new study says it is the best at sourcing video content.
Video search engine Truveo's new study says it is the best at sourcing video content.

Truveo gives the most comprehensive search return for video content - according to the site itself.

The video search engine carried out a study to compare how many sites with video content competitor

engines linked to.

It took the top 100 Alexa-rated sites with video content and compared how many were covered by

individual search engines.

The research found that Truveo linked to 86 of those sites, while competitors like Blinkx covered 20 and

Google Video covered just three.

Pete Kocks, Truveo president and vice president of AOL, said: "Our crawlers are the best in the business

and that is what has allowed us to build an index of over 200 million videos."

Truveo said it had carried out the study itself as no independent testing organisation was currently

researching video search engines.

In order to ward off accusations of bias, the company said it was making its study methodology publicly

available.

Truveo was founded in 2004 and acquired by AOL in 2006.
