An industry expert offers key tips to help firms maintain their search optimisation performance while updating their website designs.
Maintaining the effectiveness of website promotion during redesign projects can save firms a significant amount of money in the long term, an expert has suggested.
Firms need to maintain their search engine optimisation and ensure they don't lose rankings during website construction, Jim Whalen, chief executive and founder of US-based search marketing firm High Rankings, told Search Engine Land.
Businesses should consider turning to a search engine optimisation firm during this process as they can help provide additional research, outline the structure of the new website and provide assistance in efficiently rewriting content and tags, he added.
Changing from a .asp platform to a .php platform means that search engines will have new URLs to index and old URLs will become invalid, so companies need to at least manually redirect their top level pages, Mr Whalen said.
The advice comes as a new website promotion campaign from Pasta Hut - the product of an £18 million rebranding by Pizza Hut, led to success, with 37.4 per cent of people viewing the firm's restaurants across the UK after visiting the Pizza Hut website earlier this week, reports Hitwise Intelligence.
