Amid high demand and competition for website promotion and firms looking to gain a high search ranking, some are overlooking the simplest SEO strategies which could be the most effective, an expert has said.
Advances in technology mean competition among firms for high search rankings has exploded and many online marketers and businesses could be overlooking simple but effective strategies in website promotion, it has been suggested.
Bryan Howe, founder and chief executive of business planning firm Masterplan, writing for DNNews, said businesses and marketers are often toiling over complex search engine optimisation (SEO) solutions while missing strategies which could give them a high search ranking.
One simple tactic is to incorporate popular key words into a firm's website URL or landing page and to purchase relevant domain names, he said.
Some business leaders and SEO marketers overlook this simple approach, which can help small firms "elbow in" on larger businesses, Mr Howe added.
Search engines such as Google and Yahoo have less work to do in locating keywords when they are in a firm's URL, which can help generate a high ranking and increase hits for popular terms, he told the news provider.
Meanwhile, Google is considering using tailored video adverts through searches on its subsidiary company YouTube to generate revenue.
