Visitors are Not Enough - To Gain Engagement needs Skilled Wordsmiths
Businesses need to ensure that they employ a professional copywriter to boost their website's search engine optimisation (SEO), it has been claimed.
Techniques such as keyword optimisation and the use of meta descriptions and meta titles are key to ensuring SEO success, according to Jack Mon, author of SB Business Solution.
He points out: "Due to increasing popularity of articles, now companies are hiring the professional content writers to develop contents which are fresh, informative and user friendly. "It is the main condition that the contents should be relevant otherwise it will lost its effectiveness ... and it will not satisfy their readers."
The appearance of a website's copy is also key to successful content optimisation.
Mr Mon points out that relevant information should be presented in an accurate and "to the point" manner, because users that do not immediately find what they are looking for may begin to search elsewhere. He also advises businesses to ensure that short, sharp sentences are used to boost the quality of website copy.
The colour and font of an article's content also plays a role.
In an article on the Headlines.com website, freelance copywriter and brand manager Claudia Winifred explained that using the right combination of colours in text is key to improving navigation and ensuring that pages are more "goal orientated".
However, she warns that a bad combination of colours can end up making your website unusable. She also points out that using the appropriate font style and size, underlining the importance of website copy not being too small, or too large to be convenient to read.
Ultimately, the goal needs to be to raise the profile of a website in a way that both attracts users and sustains search engine rankings.
Earlier this week, eMarketer senior analyst Karin von Abrams explained that building brand awareness online is an important part of any business. She added that this can be done in many ways, "from rethinking its business processes to make full use of digital channels".
