Website Owners say that they Understand the Importance and the Principles of Search Engine Optimisation
The importance of search engine optimisation (SEO) is starting to be recognised by businesses, according to the results of a new study.
Online magazine Practical eCommerce found that 95 per cent of firms now believe the strategy is of utmost importance to their digital marketing campaigns. Only one per cent of those polled said it was not of any interest, while 3.1 per cent revealed they were unsure of how SEO could benefit their business.
Although companies are keen to optimise their content, five per cent of the survey's respondents indicated they had no idea of how to achieve it. More than half (54.7 per cent) revealed they understood optimisation somewhat, while 40.6 per cent claimed to have a sound understanding of what SEO entails.
The 2009 Business Pulse report by BT found that many companies believe websites (73 per cent) and ecommerce (40 per cent) activities are important, with up to two-thirds of them selling something online.
Furthermore, 30 per cent of the media sector said that they are winning and retaining more business through the effective use of technology.
