Firms Begin to Understand the Link between Social Media and SEO
The digital marketing industry has been revolutionised by search engine optimisation (SEO) and will continue to do so, an expert has suggested.
Tom Demers, director of marketing at WordStream, believes it is a cost-effective means of driving traffic to a particular website.
"Building relationships and building your brand is great for SEO," he explained, advising marketing professionals to ensure they have a strong online presence.
SEO involves a combination of "content creation, generating citation, technical on-page SEO and some other marketing disciplines", Mr Demers explained.
He added that it can complement other forms of digital marketing when it has been executed properly.
In excess of 95 per cent of online merchants who responded to a Practical eCommerce poll said SEO is important to their business.
Furthermore, 3.1 per cent of the respondents said they did not know if SEO is important to their business, while the remainder did not believe that SEO is important.
More than a third (40.6 per cent) of those questioned said they completely understand the concept and 54.7 per cent said they understand it somewhat.
