Black hat SEO doesn't meet website visitors' needs - Successful SEO is 'down to fresh content'
In order for a firm to be successful with its search engine optimisation (SEO), content needs to be updated regularly, it has been identified.
Eric Enge wrote in a blog for Search Engine Watch that SEO is something which is rapidly evolving: The age-old practices of keyword stuffing and over-editing pages are unlikely to work anymore.
Search engines are now more advanced, he stressed, meaning they are better equipped at dealing with spam and any other material which lacks credibility.
Mr Enge established that using a one size fits all approach to SEO is not likely to work, as the dynamics and specifications of websites vary greatly.
Instead, each website needs to be treated independently, people go in search of different things on different sites, he stressed.
"Nearly every web publisher knows of competitive websites that buy links, implement link spam schemes, use doorway pages, or use other spammy techniques without getting penalised," he highlighted.
Nonetheless, getting ahead of the competition using credible means will be more worthwhile in the long run, as sites such are favoured among internet users.
Latest IDC figures show Google's market share of overall US online ad spend shrank slightly to 30.2 per cent during the fourth quarter of last year.
