Yahoo! gives PPC campaigns a boost by Steve Swallow 06/03/2009 Yahoo! has taken steps to make it easier for paid search marketers to research the right keywords for their niche.
Yahoo! has launched a new online resource offering information on major search trends and keywords within a range of different industries to help pay-per-click (PPC) marketers to refine their campaigns.

The Yahoo! Search Marketing Help Center now has a section containing sector-specific reports and lists of the most prominent keywords to use for search marketers.

These keywords are those that are high-volume but are used by relatively few companies in their internet marketing efforts.

Reports and keywords are available for the clothing, automotive, education, financial services, healthcare, DIY, legal services, travel and wireless services sectors.

For example, some of the keywords suggested by Yahoo! for the travel sector include 'hong kong map', 'japan rail pass' and 'egypt visa'.

"Adding these keywords to your campaigns may help increase your traffic volume and improve overall campaign performance," said Jeff Hecox of Yahoo! in a post on the Yahoo! Search Marketing blog.

UK marketers spent a collective £981 million on PPC ads during the first half of 2008, according to a report from the Internet Advertising Bureau.

This represented a 28 per cent increase compared with the equivalent period in 2007, the organisation noted.
