Growing Need for E-Commerce Companies to Cater for Window Shopping from Mobiles
It seems that an increasing number of people are turning to their mobile phones to make a quick purchase, one marketing site has claimed.
A recent survey from PriceGrabber.com found that there has been almost a 50 per cent rise in m-commerce over the past year, eMarketer revealed. It found that in April, 35 per cent of smartphone users had engaged in some sort of online purchasing activity compared to the same month of 2009.
However, the amount of people looking at buying products still has some way to go to catch up those who actually make purchases, if the results are anything to go by. Just 13 per cent of those polled actually parted with any money using their smartphone, compared to ten per cent 12 months ago.
Some of the main reasons cited for using a traditional computer included the mobile phone screen not being big enough and the process simply taking far too long on a handset.
Recent findings from Sony Ericsson show roaming data usage over the summer period is likely to increase due to more people using mobile devices to conduct their social networking activities.
