Banking may well be the Next Industry to Target Mobile Phones

Marketers can now be safe in the knowledge that mobile banking is an up and coming area following the release of results from a new survey.

After carrying out analysis of consumer behaviour, mBlox found that people in both the UK and US are logging into their bank accounts via different methods.

Mobile banking in particular is popular because it gives individuals the convenience of being able to access their information wherever and whenever they please.

Findings from the research show 52 per cent of consumers in the US now use these mobile facilities compared to 46 per cent in the UK.

Andrew Dark, chief executive officer of mBlox, commented: "We are seeing strong interest in the mobile sector from a wide variety of industries including transportation, retail, marketing and entertainment, which shows there is an opportunity for financial services to benefit from this increasingly popular channel."

He added that there are still some consumer concerns over the safety of the services, which the industry must continue to address in order to succeed.

Recent findings from Gartner suggest mobile phone sales to end-users grew eight per cent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
