Bucks New University is focussed on bringing its academic world into contact with local business and Living Streams has been actively fully supportive of this aim since autumn 2007. The latest opportunity was the University's latest Enterprise Week (17th to 21st Nov 2008).
Mixing with students and other businesses at the talks on Fairtrade by Divine Chocolate and Networking by David McQueen earlier in week had been very rewarding. The talk by the ounder of Arora International Hotel group, at the presentation dinner, had been illuminating: His Arora Family Trust having recently purchased Wycombe Air Park, the 13th biggest airfield in the UK.
But the highlight of the week for Living Streams was undoubtedly the Xing project. 10 teams of students (6th formers and undergraduates) were given enterprise initiatives -initial idea and final position - and given the morning to produce outline business plans. The experts arrived early afternoon to be questioned by the teams for specialist guidance - Living Streams providing operational and internet consultancy expertise. Then late afternoon, each team had to present their final plan back to the experts for assessment. The winning team received £500, donated by Wycombe District Council.
