Web Search is such a Massive Marketing Opportunity - how could you possibly ignore it?

The global search market appears to be growing, as newly released figures have shown that over 131 billion queries from those aged over 15 were conducted from either home or at work in December 2009.

This represents an increase of 46 per cent in the last 12 months, as revealed in comScore's latest study.

Executive vice-president of the company Jack Flanagan noted that the rate of expansion for the search industry is "extraordinary", which suggests that internet marketing consultants and others in the sector may profit from creating campaigns involving search.

The survey also showed that over four billion searches a day are carried out, or 2.9 million a minute, with the US constituting the largest individual market worldwide, accounting for around 17 per cent of all global searches.

"If you equate the advancement of search with the ability of humans to cultivate information, then the world is rapidly becoming a more knowledgeable ecosystem," Mr Flanagan continued.

Aside from the US, China also fared well in comScore's survey, being responsible for 13.3 billion searches in December, with Japan following at 9.2 billion and the UK achieving 6.2 billion.

In addition, consumers appear to be increasingly interested in viewing videos online, with comScore's Video Metrix showing that, for November 2009, over 170 million people in the US watched such films.
