Google updates AdSense features 26/08/2009 John Burns wrote: Will you be making use of Google's new AdSense changes?

Google has made changes to AdSense in an effort to help firms using the service to increase their revenue.

The search engine giant has made it possible for companies to allow multiple advertising networks to bid for display advertising space on their website, a move that may be welcomed by internet marketing consultants.

Writing in a blog post, business product manager Sean Harvey explained that the move will make it possible for companies to "generate the most profit for every ad that appears on [their] website", regardless of whether the adverts originate from AdWords firms or Google-certified ad networks.

Mr Harvey added that Google will be granting certification to all ad networks that are participating in order to ensure that the quality of marketing that appears on sites does not diminish, while website owners will have the opting to control which networks are allowed to display content on their portal.

"This means you can continue to show ads from only AdWords advertisers if you like," he noted.

Earlier this month, Google revealed a range of new features for its Insights for Search option, including the ability to forecast trends among its most popular queries.
