Companies now have no option but to employ digital marketing strategies, an industry insider has revealed.
Speaking at Internet World, director at SEO Junkies Di Forster emphasised that there are still different ways in which firms can approach their advertising strategies.
For example, she suggested that companies which employ younger staff may want to gear their content towards search engine optimisation and online channels. In some cases, it may prove a difficult task to demonstrate to those at director-level how the benefits can be reaped - but the struggle is well worth it.
She continued: "The more well-established companies are realising that they need to do something online now whether they like it or not. "I guess the problem is convincing them that this is the right way to do it and this is how to do it for your business."
Ms Forster added that companies need to establish how to draw in fresh, new customers, which in turn will mean changing with the times.
US online advertising spending will reach $25.1 billion (£16.9 million) in 2010, representing 10.8 per cent growth over last year, eMarketer recently discovered.
