Hotmail launches New Version to Cater for Mobile Devices

Microsoft has redesigned its Hotmail service so it can be accessed on low-powered portable devices, it has been said.

According to Ben Camm-Jones, news editor of Web User magazine, this will appeal to netbook users and other gadget fanatics who want to access email on the go.  "This is what the new Hotmail is about - making it easier for people to do the things they need to do, wherever they are," he continued.

Mr Camm-Jones emphasised that although Microsoft and Google are often at loggerheads when it comes to offering such technology, they are not the only competitors in the market.

Access to editing facilities is now much easier on the new Hotmail service, which is likely to gain it a business consumer base.

He explained: "Convenience and functionality are the key elements of the new Hotmail and this will help Microsoft attract and keep hold of new users, as well as hang on to the ones it already has."

Among the features of the service are that people can now share Microsoft documents over email and, even if the recipient doesn't have Microsoft Office, they can still view the files.
