There are three main factors to consider when maximising the potential of search engine optimisation (SEO) to boost website rankings, it has been claimed.
Writing on web technology blog ReadWriteWeb, Jason Rothbart stated that the best ways to boost SEO are not mysterious or hidden secrets, rather they are a set of best practices to adhere to in a way that a cook might follow a recipe.
The principal factor is deciding on the keywords which are to be used throughout the website's content.
He explained: "You need to climb into the brain of your customer and understand how he or she might try to find you."
Secondly, he claimed that web publishers can determine how their sites get indexed by tweaking the likes of page titles, URLs, meta description tags and links, by jamming them full of relevant yet snappy keywords.
Mr Rothbart concluded that the final step towards ensuring higher SEO rankings is to include inbound links on the website, which point users to other internal pages.
Meanwhile, Econsultancy's Patricio Robles recently claimed that web publishers could boost their site's search rankings by realising the full potential of images as well as text.
