Software as a Service - SaaS

Ever since it was formed in 2005, Living Streams has set itself the target of expanding into the provision of consultancy on any web based service / product use of which could help increase the profitability of UK SMEs.  

Living Streams is taking an interest in software as a service because we believe that the following trends will continue:

• there will be employees who work from home (at least some of the time) or are mobile workers
• some specialist services will be outsourced but require close inter-working
• managing software licenses on a per machine basis is a headache to be avoided
• purchasing expensive capital equipment will be shunned
• employees will increasingly want to be able to access the same company or personally specific data from various devices

In this environment,  we are looking for cloud based services which we can both endorse and support in areas such as office applications, data storage, telecommunications, CRM and finance.  Our hope is that we will start to identify and support such services from late 2011, but to date tested services have all proved to be a disappointment.  Sub-page to this one will be added as we succeed in finding the right calibre of services.

N.B.  We do of course already support two SaaS services which have been around for long enough for people not to think of them as SaaS - hosted email marketing and automatic remote backup.
